Attention Teachers! If you are participating for the first time, you will need to contact the state office at BEFORE you try to register in order to have your school added into the system.  Schools that participated in the 2019 contest year are in the system.  If you are unsure, please check the list below to see which schools are currently in our system.


Teachers need to have a completed registration prior to any students registering.  Once registered, the account will remain active in the system from year to year unless requested otherwise. If you have forgotten your password, you have two options:  there is a “forgot my password” automated option; or you can email to have your password manually reset by the state office.

Special Awards

Local African American Award: The Local African American Award, sponsored by the Great Plains Black History Museum, will be awarded for the best entry including local black figures prominent in Nebraska history. Both individual and group entries can be eligible for this award. The winner(s) will receive a Great Plains Black History Museum hat and t-shirt and a copy of the book In Their Own Image.

Faith in Every Footstep Award: The Faith in Every Footstep Award, sponsored by the Mormon Trail Center, will be awarded for the best entry pertaining to pioneers. This could mean people, places, or events demonstrating the pioneer spirit. Both individual and group entries are eligible for this award. The winner(s) will receive a day pass to the Mormon Trail Center and a Faith in Every Footstep lapel pin.

Czech and Slovak Cultural Award: The Czech and Slovak Cultural Award, sponsored by the Czech and Slovak Educational Center and Cultural Museum, will be awarded for the best entry including an accurate portrayal of Czech or Slovakian cultural history. Both individual and group entries are eligible for this award. The winner(s) will receive a $50 gift certificate for the Czech and Slovak Museum store.
